Let’s end packaging waste in the beauty industry.
Pact is a nonprofit collective uniting the beauty industry to reduce beauty packaging waste and work collaboratively toward more circular solutions for the industry.
What we do
-
Unite
We unite the beauty industry to take responsibility for our packaging waste and to solve our packaging problem together.
-
Close the loop
We help close the loop on our industry's hard-to-recycle packaging through our beauty packaging collection programs.
-
Educate
We serve as a knowledge hub to empower our industry to design more sustainable packaging, produce less waste, and drive circular solutions.
Sustainability is a thing of beauty.
Each year, a whopping 120 billion cosmetic packages are created and only a fraction get recycled. Most will end up in the landfill. Our industry’s packaging is too small, too flexible, or made of too many materials to be traditionally recycled. That’s where we come in.
The beauty industry has a pretty ugly problem.
Our industry is responsible for some ugly environmental impacts. The small things — tiny tubes and barely-there bottles — make a big difference. By working together pre-competitively, we can close the loop on this hard-to-recycle packaging.
Too much packaging cannot be recycled.
The global plastics and packaging problem is bigger than the beauty industry, but beauty has a unique challenge: most of our packaging is highly unlikely to be recycled through traditional systems. All those tiny cosmetic contraptions? They’re headed for the trash.

Let’s talk trash.
Find a collection bin to discard Pact-accepted empties. Don’t have access to a bin? Send your empties back through our mail-back program.

For the collective good.
Are you a beauty organization? We’d love for you to join us. Become a Pact member today to help us close the loop on hard-to-recycle packaging and design better beauty products.
It’s not too late.
We believe that beauty is unique and requires industry-specific solutions to close the loop on packaging. We believe that no one brand can do it on its own. We believe that by working together, we can end beauty packaging waste. And we believe it’s not too late.
